Chromatic was made by Moodstone as a way of bringing colour reading into everyday life. You answer three questions, and it identifies the colour in the visible spectrum that best reflects your current state of mind.
Colour has always meant something. Every culture across history has used it to describe emotional states, spiritual conditions and ways of being in the world. Chromatic works with that instinct.
Colour as a form of therapy has been practised across most major cultures for thousands of years. The underlying idea is fairly simple: different wavelengths of light affect us in different ways, and those effects are consistent enough that environmental psychologists have spent decades documenting them.
Warmer tones are linked to alertness and drive. Cooler ones to calm and focus. The deeper frequencies, indigo and violet, show a persistent association with introspection and inward attention.
Chromatic draws on this. The three questions are designed to locate you in the spectrum at this particular point in your life, and give you something honest to sit with.
We like hearing from people.

Moodstone was started in 2009 by a small group of designers, therapists and colour theorists with a fairly straightforward belief: that the tools people reach for in difficult moments should be honest ones.
We host retreats, offer colour therapy consultations and publish a curated collection of guided journals, reflective workbooks and seasonal planners. Our work reaches individuals, coaches and therapists in over forty countries, most of whom found us through someone else who found us the same way.
